Mahodand Lake (Pashto: د ماهو ډنډ – “Lake of Fishes”) is a lake located in the upper Usho Valley at a distance of about 40 km from Kalam, Swat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of northwestern Pakistan. The lake is accessible by a four-wheel drive vehicle, and is often utilized for fishing and boating.
Mahodand Lake Swat is located in upper Ushu Velly at the distance of 40 km from Kalam. This place is spectacularly designed, the scenery and beauty of place is wonderful. You can access this place using 4×4 vehicle, it lies in north of Kalam. Fish hunters and nature lovers are invited by the valley especially in summer. The road that leads to Mahodand lake is tricky and bumpy but surrounding area allows you to explore more and more as long as you wish to move forward. This is also birth place of Swat River.
How to Reach
Tourists traveling from all over country are advised to use M-1 Moterway to reach Mardan Interchange. It will take 1.5 hours to cover the 131 km distance from Islamabad. After reach Mardan, you need to continue traveling towards Takh-e-bai, Dargai, Malakand Pass, Batkhella, and reach Mingora. It will take 2.5 hours to cover 112 km distance. You will cover the distance of 247 km in 5 hours from Islamabad to Saidu Sharif. The route is open for all kinds of traffic throughout the year. If you are traveling from Peshawar, the total driving time is 4 hours.
Public transport is another way through which you can access the place. Several bus companies are providing regular direct service to Saidu Sharif from Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar.
