Deosai Plains

Deosai National Park or Deosai Plains are high altitude alpine plateaus in District Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The average elevation of Deosai Plains is 4,114 meters above sea level. These plains in Pakistan are the second-highest plateaus in the world.
Deosai is also known as “The Land of Giants”. The people of Baltistan call it “Ghbiarsa” means “Summer’s Place”. It is because the Deosai Plains are only accessible in Summers. The Deosai National Park is also known for having rich flora and fauna of Tibetan Plateau alpine steppe ecoregion. In the season of spring. The area is covered by wildflowers and a good variety of beautiful butterflies.
The vast plains of Deosai are covered with lush wild grass, beautiful and colorful flowers, and several lakes. You also get to see wildlife in abundance at Deosai. Brown Bears, Snow Leopards, Himalayan Ibex, Vultures, and Red Fox are found at Deosai National Park.

The tourist destinations in Deosai are the Sheosar Lake, Bara Pani, Kala Pani, Deosai Top, and Shatoung Nala. Sheosar Lake is the most beautiful lake in Gilgit-Baltistan. It has crystal blue water and the mountains in the backdrop are covered with snow that gives a mesmerizing view in summers.
